Accessibility Statement

Learning and Teaching Scotland has ensured that all pages produced by our development teams validates against XHTML Transitional standard. However, on occasions we do use third party tools within our web sites and LT Scotland have no control over the HTML produced by these controls and therefore cannot ensure that the code produced is valid XHTML.

This page describes some of the features that have been incoporated into the site to aid accessibility for all users.

Access keys

Access Keys are also available for each section in the site and have been set as the first letter of the section name, for example B is the access key for Background, N is the access key for News.

Links

Links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target.

Images

  1. All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
  2. Complex images include LONGDESC attributes or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

Visual design

  1. This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout.
  2. This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified "text size" option in visual browsers.
  3. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
